Ingredients

For the Cake Batter:

• 3 large eggs (room temperature)

• 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

• 1 cup (240ml) milk (warm)

• 3/4 cup (180ml) vegetable oil

• 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour (sifted)

• 2 tsp baking powder

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

For the Topping:

• 2 tbsp Nutella

• 50g dark chocolate chips

For the Homemade Salted Caramel:

• 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

• 2 tbsp unsalted butter

• 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream (warm)

• A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).

3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

4. Gradually fold in the flour and baking powder, mixing until you get a smooth batter.

Step 2: Create the Zebra Effect

1. Divide the batter into two equal portions.

2. In one portion, stir in the cocoa powder to create the chocolate batter.

3. Pour 2 tablespoons of vanilla batter into the center of the pan, then 2 tablespoons of chocolate batter on top. Repeat until both batters are finished, creating a marble effect.

Step 3: Bake the Cake

1. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 4: Make the Salted Caramel Sauce

1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until golden brown, stirring constantly.

2. Add the butter and stir until fully combined.

3. Slowly pour in the warm cream, whisking continuously. Cook for another 2 minutes, then add a pinch of sea salt.

4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 5: Assemble the Cake

1. In a small pan, melt Nutella with 1 tbsp of caramel sauce over low heat.

2. Pour the melted Nutella-caramel mixture evenly over the cooled cake.

3. Sprinkle with dark chocolate chips while the topping is still warm.
